Welcome to the course blog for Practical Public Engagement. We aim to share thoughts and reflections on public enagement matters arising both from the course and from the wider context of Sheffield and beyond. Public Engagement matters, but why is that? What are the ethical, moral, intellectual and practical questions that we should be asking ourselves when undertaking such projects and events. In a month when Sheffield seems to have been one big public engagement project – Festival of the Mind – we are starting to think about the issues have been raised by the Festival and how its successes can be built on and improved. More on that later!
For now have a look around the site, as well as info on the course and its development, there are a few links to projects that have already happened or are happening in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and beyond. They might provide a starting point for your own initial thoughts.
